Bernadette
Legoria joined the Holy Ghost Faculty in August of 2007.
Mrs. Legoria holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a
Master’s degree in Education which she obtained from Southeastern
Louisiana University. She
also holds a kindergarten certification and is a certified supervisor
of student teachers. Mrs.
Legoria was previously employed with the Tangipahoa Parish School
system for thirty-four years. She
has experience teaching kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade.
She spent her last year with the school system as a Reading
Media Specialist at her school site.
Mrs. Legoria has extensive knowledge with the English Language
Arts Content Standards and Benchmarks.
She developed a working document addressing the ELA Content
Standards and Benchmarks which she utilized when preparing her
students for the state assessment. During her
thirty-four years of teaching, Mrs. Legoria has participated in
numerous professional development activities.
She is trained in Project Read, Shurley Method, Classroom
Organization and Management Program (COMP), Lee Canter’s Assertive
Discipline, SAGE Specialist (Supporting Academic Growth for
Educators), Thinking Maps, Write from the Beginning, Tangi Tech I, and
Kagan Cooperative Learning.
She served as a member of her school improvement team and
assisted in writing school improvement plans for nine years.
Mrs. Legoria
attended Mater Dolorosa Catholic School and Independence High School.
She has been a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for
approximately forty years. She
is married to Joseph Legoria and has two children who are both
graduates of Holy Ghost School. They
are also both teachers. Her
son, Dr. Joseph Legoria, PhD., is an assistant professor of accounting
at Louisiana State University. Her daughter Jennifer Ingraffia is a
literacy coach for the Tangipahoa Parish School System.
She is proud to have three grandchildren now attending Holy
Ghost School: Lawrence,
Patrick, and Caroline Ingraffia. Mrs. Legoria is
excited to be a part of the Holy Ghost educational community. She is looking forward to challenging students as they
prepare for future endeavors. Most
importantly, she is dedicated to fulfilling the concepts of the school
motto, loving, learning, and living in Christ.
