biography...Debbie Horn became the Religion teacher in August of 1992 after being an assistant with Mrs. Snellgrove’s Kindergarten class in 1990 and then in 1991 teaching P.E. to first graders in the morning and Religion to seventh graders in the afternoon. Debbie is from New Orleans where she went to school at the University of New Orleans. She, and her husband Jerry, moved to Hammond with a job Jerry accepted and after their son Jeff was born. Three years later their daughter Jennifer was born and they were in Hammond to stay. She stayed at home to raise their children until Jennifer was in the third grade. She was actively involved in Junior Auxiliary and was Home and School President at Holy Ghost. Since Debbie has been at Holy Ghost she was honored with the Mother Seton Award, The Wilson Wells Award, The Brotherhood-Sisterhood Award, and Teacher Of the Year Award. She has completed Foundations For Ministry I, II, III, and two years of Religious Studies Institute, Morality I and II, Human Sexuality Course, along with many other classes offered by the Diocese. Debbie has also been trained in the Boy’s Town Model, in Thinking Maps and Accelerated Reader. Debbie has been Cheerleader and Dance Team Sponsor, was the sponsor for National Junior Honor Society, is in charge of the Washington, DC Trip, and helps out with the Holy Ghost Youth Choir. She is also involved with the Confirmation Program for our juniors in High School. Debbie and here husband Jerry love football and have season tickets to LSU and the Saints. They also like to go to the show and go into New Orleans every weekend to be with family. Debbie says, “Teaching at Holy Ghost has been a blessing in my life. You are able to talk about God and teach children that God will always be there and that nothing is more important than their relationship with God. You get to work with others that believe in the same values and want to make the world a better place by teaching this to the next generation”.
