Emily Wagner-7th and 8th Grade Social Studies
Teacher
Emily Wagner has been associated with Holy Ghost
School for over fifty
years. She started her education here in the first grade, and she has
been
here for practically her whole life. She was born on July 30th in
New
Orleans, Louisiana fifty-six years ago. Then the family moved to
Hammond
when she was five. She graduated from Holy Ghost School and Hammond
High School. She received Bachelors’ degrees in Political
Science and
History and Social Studies Secondary education. She received her
Master’s
Degree in Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University, and she
has
graduate hours in Elementary education and Political Philosophy from
L.S.U. She taught in a migrant program and at an all boys junior
high
school before coming home to Holy Ghost School. She has been here for
the
last thirty-two years. She teaches American and Louisiana History to
the
seventh and eighth graders.
She is in charge of the Social Studies Fair for the school, and she is
the
school Moderator for the Diocesan Quiz Bowl. She also helps plan
and
organize the eighth grade graduation breakfast and closing ceremonies.
As far as awards go, she considers her awards the students she teaches
every
year, but she has also received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Award
and the Wilson-Wells Awards.
She lives in Hammond with her husband Larry.
