biography..
In Europe, during the Middle Ages,
insects were destroying the crops, so the Catholic farmers prayed to
the Virgin Mary for help. Soon the Ladybugs came, ate the
plant-destroying pests and saved the crops! The farmers began calling
the ladybugs “The Beetles of Our Lady” and they eventually became
known as “Lady Beetles”! The red wings represented the Virgin’s
cloak and the black spots represented her joys and sorrows. Just as the ladybug had a calling,
Jennifer Balisteri has been led from an early age to share her love
for Jesus with His precious children. She answered His call after
graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1997 with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (1st-8th
certified). She has taught children at Holy Ghost for the last five
years while providing them with a rich, fulfilling, Catholic
education. In 1999, Jennifer began her career at Holy Ghost School
teaching 4th grade English. Then, she moved to 2nd
grade religion where she guided children through the experience of
receiving their First Eucharist. Finally, she found her true calling
in Fantastic 1st Grade. In this loving and nurturing
environment she (the ladybug) helps her students (the crops) to
