First Grade Teacher at Holy Ghost Catholic School (2005-2006)

Member of Holy Ghost Church

I am a native of Destrehan, Louisiana and moved to Ponchatoula in 1999.  I am a graduate of The University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (grades 1-8).  I am now in my second year of teaching at Holy Ghost.  I was a second grade teacher in the 2004-2005 year.  I am currently a first grade teacher.

I have a total of 8 years teaching experience.  I previously taught in St. Charles Parish Public Schools (4 years) and St. John Parish Public Schools (2 years).  My teaching experience includes non-categorical pre-k, first grade, and seventh/eighth grade science and social studies.  During that time I was a member of the S.B.L.C. committee, and sponsored cheerleaders, pep-squad and student council.

During my 8 years of teaching, I participated in numerous staff development trainings.  Some of them include:

Thinking Maps
Write from the Beginning
Multiple Intelligences
Shurley Method
Boys Town
Middle School Concept
Responsive Classroom
Whole Language
Math Their Way

My dream has always been to teach in a Catholic School.  When my family and I moved to this area I knew that Holy Ghost would be a second home for us.  I loved all of my years of teaching, but especially love teaching at Holy Ghost where JESUS comes first.  I am looking forward to many years of teaching at this remarkable school.
