1st Grade Syllabus / Class Requirements

In order to keep our commitment to your child's academic, social, and spiritual growth, we have developed a first grade discipline plan. We feel that it is best to always praise the positive first. We will find the child that is doing the right thing and reward them with praise and an incentive. This will usually handle any off-task behavior. However, in the event that the misconduct continues, we will enforce the following consequences:

Consequences:

1st time = warning issued
2nd time = loss of free choice during centers / time out
3rd time = loss of recess
4th time = note / phone call home
5th time = official behavior report sent home
Severe misbehavior = Send to principal and receive an "F" for the week.

Rewards:

In addition to the above mentioned incentives, students who behave appropriately will be rewarded with:

  • Daily praise

  • Stickers

  • Praise treats

  • Special treats

Grading Scale:

This is based on the number of cards added per week:

          A=0-3        B=4-6        C=7-9        D=10-11        F=12 or more

The total number of cards put in the pocket will be recorded on a weekly sheet in the weekly test folder. Weekly grades will be averaged at the end of each 9 week period and recorded on progress reports and report cards.

A "D" or "F" conduct average up until the day before the field tip will prevent the student from attending any class field trips during the 9-week period. For further details, refer to the Parent-Student handbook.

We feel our rules are appropriate for our fantastic first graders. They are as follows:

  1. The Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

  2. One voice at a time.

  3. Be a good listener and a good worker.

  4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
