Jenny
Rome Kuehl is a second grade teacher at Holy Ghost School. Jenny was
born and raised in Cajun bayou country in Golden Meadow, LA. She
graduated from
South
Lafourche
High School
and continued on to
Nicholls
State
University
in
Thibodaux
,
LA
for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and speech
education. She was in every drama production in both high school and
college years and was president of Alpha Psi Omega, honorary theater
fraternity. She has completed post-graduate education classes at Our
Lady of Holy Cross College.
Jenny met her husband, Gordon,
at
Nicholls
State
, and married him 31 years ago. Gordon is Manager of Computer Systems
at
LOOP
, LLC (LA Offshore Oil Port). They have two sons attending college.
Both graduated from Catholic schools at
St.
Mark
School
and
Brother
Martin
High School
. Jenny and her family are living in their new home in Mandeville, LA
since losing their home to Hurricane Katrina in St. Bernard, LA.
Jenny taught for 3 years in
high school English and speech and taught 1 year of speech at
Nicholls
State
University
. Her true calling was teaching Catholic elementary school for 15
years in St. Mark Catholic School in
Chalmette
,
LA.
She taught first through fourth grades as a reading specialist for 11
years and as a second grade homeroom teacher for 4 years. She has been
coordinator of such programs as Accelerated Reader, Project Read, Just
Say No to Drugs, and Power of Positive Students programs for 15 years.

Mark
School
.
She was still teaching at
St.
Mark
School
when Hurricane Katrina completely destroyed the school in 2005. Her
second grade classroom, known as “Mrs. Kuehl’s Krewe of Angels”,
was totally flooded and nothing was able to be saved except 2 angel
figures still hanging on the wall. Those 2 angels now have a new home
along with her new “Krewe of Angels” classroom at Holy Ghost
School. This is Jenny’s third year at HGS and she thanks God that He
sent her here to such a warm, friendly Christian school family that
has embraced her with open arms. She feels right at home with such
caring, loving people! She is so happy that her life’s career of
teaching reading and preparing second grade angels for their First
Communion continues on at HGS.
