Jackie P. Mitchell graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. In 1995 she received her Alternative Certification in Elementary Education 1-4 and in 1998 she received her Alternative Certification in Elementary Education 5-8.

Mitchell worked in the Accounting Department at Ponchatoula Feed and Seed Store throughout high school and college.  Upon receiving her Degree in Accounting, she worked as an Internal Auditor for American Bank in Baton Rouge.  By the time her second child was born, she decided to stay home with her children until they started school. Jackie then returned to college and pursued certification in Elementary Education.

Mitchell began her teaching career at D.C. Reeves Elementary School in Ponchatoula in the 1995-96 school year where she taught 4^th grade.  Through the needs of one of her own children, God then called Jackie to Holy Ghost Catholic School where she taught 5^th/6^th Social Studies for 7 years. Jackie transferred to teaching Math in the 2005-2006 school year.

Jackie has received the following awards/recognitions: SLU Exemplary Elementary Education Alternate Certification Student, Tangipahoa Parish School System Learn for the 21^st Century Individual Teacher Grant, Vietnam Veterans of America Certificate of Appreciation, My Favorite Teacher Certificate- in recognition and appreciation of outstanding efforts to ensure that “No Child Be Left Behind,” and the Wilson-Wells Outstanding Teacher Award.

Mitchell has participated in the following training: Thinking Maps, Boys Town Model of Discipline, Tangi- Tech Computer Training, Teacher Technology Leadership Team (Computer Training), Basic Catechist Certification, Religious Enrichment: on-going classes through the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Introduction to Reading Renaissance ( Accelerated Reader), Kagan Cooperative Learning, Write from the Beginning, and Excel I, Microsoft 2007: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Classroom Management.

Jackie has served on the following past committees: 10 Year Evaluation, Catholic Schools Week, Quiz Bowl Moderator. Jackie is currently active in the following capacity at Holy Ghost School: Positive Attitude Committee, Discipline Committee, Intranet Steering Committee, Chess Club Sponsor, Administrative Advisory Committee and Team Leader for the 5^th/6^th grade.

Jackie Mitchell resides in Ponchatoula with her husband, Randy and their three children Shanna, Ashley, and Chad.
