Kathryn C. Huggett began teaching at Holy Ghost School in August of 1995 as the 7th and 8th grade English teacher.  This year she will begin her 16th year of teaching as the Holy Ghost School Librarian.

Mrs. Huggett has experience teaching first, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in the classroom, and she really enjoyed her experience last year as librarian.  She began her teaching career in 1989 at Hammond Westside Primary teaching first grade for two years.  At that time, her second child was born, so she decided to stay home.  She became a self-employed daycare provider for five years.  When her son was ready to start kindergarten, Mrs. Kathryn began her teaching career at Holy Ghost. She is trained in programs including Write…for the Future, Accelerated Reader, Thinking Maps, and Boys Town.  She has completed her Basic Certification in religious education.   Mrs. Kathryn attended the Accelerated Reader conference in San Antonio, Texas, two years ago.  She is the Holy Ghost Youth Choir Director and has been working with the choir for eleven years.  Mrs. Kathryn has also been a sponsor of the Holy Ghost Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, a spirit team sponsor, a member of our Holy Ghost’s Relay for Life Team, and the Patriot Press Newspaper sponsor.

Mrs. Huggett was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is a resident of Hammond.  She graduated from Holy Ghost Catholic School, Hammond High School, and Southeastern Louisiana University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  She is married and has three children.

Kathryn was honored as Holy Ghost’s Teacher-of-the-Year in 2006, and in 2002 Kathryn was awarded the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award by the faculty and staff.  She is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association.  Kathryn’s hobbies include music, reading, and playing tennis.
