Katherine Loyacano graduated from the
University of New Orleans, in 1991, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Drama and Communications. After working a couple of years in
television production and advertising, Katherine decided to return to
the University of New Orleans and earned a Certificate in Elementary
Education, for grades 1- 4. In 2003, she received her Basic Catechist
Certification from the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Katherine has 11 years of teaching
experience. She began her teaching career at Christian Academy in
Hammond where she taught for one year. She spent three years at Faith
Lutheran in Harahan and seven years at St. Joseph School in
Ponchatoula. This is Katherine’s first year at Holy Ghost School. Katherine has
participated in the following training: Thinking Maps, Accelerated
Reader, Kagan Cooperative Learning, Lee Canter's Assertive Discipline,
Write from the Beginning, and Project Learning Tree. Katherine and her family have been
members of Holy Ghost Church since they moved to Hammond eight years
ago. Katherine is married to Barry Loyacano. They have two sons:
Barry, Jr. and Andrew. Barry, Jr. was a 2007 graduate from St. Thomas
Aquinas High School and will be a freshman at Southeastern in the
fall. Andrew will be a first grader at Holy Ghost School. Katherine enjoys spending time with her
family, friends, and pets. She enjoys learning about animals, going to
the movies, reading, gardening, and scrapbooking.
