biography...

Patricia (Pat) Schmit is the computer teacher at Holy Ghost Catholic School.  She is a native of Ponchatoula and graduated from St. Joseph ’s, Ponchatoula High, and Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in Business Education.  She returned to SLU to complete the necessary courses for certification in Computer Literacy.  She is married to Ronald (Ron) Schmit.  They have been living in the Baton Rouge/Denham Springs area for 30 years, and they are now returning to the Ponchatoula/Hammond area to be closer to family. Pat and Ron have two daughters and one grandson.  Another grandchild is expected in January.

Pat has been the computer teacher at St. Alphonsus School in Greenwell Springs for 19 years, where she developed the computer curriculum for that school.  She stays current in technology by utilizing information gained from workshops and conferences. She is a member of Louisiana Computer Using Educators and ISTE, and has attended the NETT, LACUE, and NECC conventions.  Pat has also attended many computer-related workshops offered by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.  She has received training in Thinking Maps, Core Knowledge, and Accelerated Math.  Pat has earned Basic Certification and is working toward Intermediate Certification in Religion.

Pat is eager to share her computer knowledge and skills with her students, and looks forward to a wonderful school year.   She is very happy to be coming “home” to this area.  She feels God has called her back “home” and that He directed her to Holy Ghost.  Pat says she is honored to be a member of the Holy Ghost Family.
