biography...Michael J. Minkus became the Technology Director for Holy Ghost Catholic School in October of 2004. He is responsible for the delivery of technology strategy and solutions to the school. He provides hardware, software, and learning solutions to the teachers and students of the school. Minkus born in Grand Rapids MI, is a native of Hammond, LA and a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where he earned an associate degree in Computer Science in 1979 and a bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1980. Minkus joined Texaco in 1981 as a programmer in Texaco USA’s Headquarters Planning Department in Houston TX. After serving in various assignments of increasing responsibilities in Manufacturing, Marketing, and Corporate Information Services departments, in 1986 he was named Supervisor of the IBM & PC support team in the Exploration & Production Division in New Orleans LA. In 1993 Minkus was named the Supervisor of the New Orleans Computing Infrastructure, which provided computing and communications infrastructure throughout the Southeast United States and Offshore Gulf of Mexico. In 1997, Minkus became the Director of Texaco’s Global Telecommunications Infrastructure and was based in Houston TX. He had the responsibility of providing to Texaco and it’s affiliate companies a telecommunications infrastructure delivering data, voice and video services to over 60 countries around the world. He was the Vice President of Texaco Communications Inc. and the Chairman of the Global IT Telecommunications Council. He retired from ChevronTexaco on March 1, 2002. Minkus is a past member of the Customer Partnership Council for AT&T (Concert). He was a member of the Astrolink Customer Advisory Board. Minkus is currently active in various professional organizations such as International Society for Technology in Education, and LACUE (Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators. He is a past member of the American Creativity Association, Creative Education Foundation, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Telecommunications Society. Minkus is the past President and Chairman of Leadership Tangipahoa. He remains an active ex-official on the executive committee for Leadership Tangipahoa. He is also a member of the Hammond Chamber of Commerce. Minkus is an Officer for the Knights of Columbus Council 2952 and is an officer in Home Inc. Board of Trustees. In 2005 he was named Knight of the Year for Council 2952. Minkus is also the Webmaster for Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2952, and Leadership Tangipahoa websites.
